Stunning views and more than 100 bolted climbing routes

Jamestown Crag is the only sport climbing crag in northeast Arkansas, approximately 20 minutes from Batesville.

Located on nearly 50 acres of privately-owned bluff and valley, Jamestown Crag is one of the largest and most exposed areas of Atoka sandstone in the region. The crag boasts more than 100 climbing routes bolted and ready to climb.

An 8-mile trail system loops around the bluff line and provides excellent hiking and biking opportunities with unforgettable views of the valley below.  Primitive campsites are located around the property for those who wish to stay overnight.

Owned and maintained by the Nomads

Jamestown Crag is a former logging territory that was purchased in 2013 by the Nomads: Nathan, Aaron, and Kyle Christopher.

The Christopher brothers are outdoor enthusiasts and avid rock climbers who purchased Jamestown Crag to preserve the area and develop the property for recreation. The Nomads have developed the 50+ acre area to offer sport climbing, camping, hiking, and biking. They have established miles of multi-use trails and primitive camping sites along with more than 100 bolted climbing routes.

During your visit, you may see the Nomads working on the property in order to build and maintain trails, bolt new climbing routes, and more. The Nomads work continuously to maintain and expand the property in an effort to bring exciting and challenging outdoor experiences to the visitors of the Jamestown Crag.

King of the Crag

Each year in the fall, the Nomads host King of the Crag, a fundraiser benefiting the maintenance and further development of the crag.

The all-day event includes climbing competitions for three different skill levels, an evening dinner, and an awards ceremony. Awards are given for the most routes climbed and other categories.

King of the Crag is a great opportunity for competitors and observers to experience Jamestown Crag and the community it fosters amongst climbers from across the country.
